Queen’s Award for Innovation 2011: “Optics Fabrication Centre: Innovative Ultra-Precision Corrective Polisher Range with Integrated Metrology”.
Zeeko specialises in the design, manufacture and commercialisation of Ultra-Precision Polishing Machines. Known as Intelligent Robotic Polishers (IRP), these machines correctively polish ultra-precision free-form surfaces to nanometre accuracy. The technology is applied to the production of telescope mirrors and other precision optics from a few milimetres in diameter to several metres across. The same technique is also applied to the fabrication of orthopaedic joints, semiconductor components and precision moulds in a number of different materials.
The Zeeko business model is to be at the cutting edge of innovation, the first to market with innovative integrated solutions, tailored to suit those niche global markets in which the business operates. To achieve this it requires a clear understanding of the challenges its customers face, the difficulties inherent in the current solutions employed by them, as well as an understanding of the objectives the customer is seeking to meet. Zeeko therefore works closely with its customers aiming to be involved in the next difficult challenge and to use the knowledge gained to provide its customers with complete solutions.
As it celebrates its tenth year since formation, Zeeko remains a young agile technology company continuing to innovate and remain at the leading edge of its business. It is well aware that it is only as good as its next idea.
