Leading control room furniture manufacturer Winsted Limited is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2013, a year after winning a coveted Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the International Trade category with an overall increase in overseas sales of 82% over three years.
Since then, Winsted has not rested on its laurels, notching up significant further growth in sales during the past 12 months and achieving the ISO14001 environmental management standard. Demonstrating the company’s ‘green’ credentials through its commitment to eco-friendly operations, this also builds on the company’s existing ISO9001 quality management system certification.
Winsted designs, manufactures, assembles and installs specialist control room furniture – such as consoles, monitor walls and digital desks – for a range of business sector customers in the UK, Europe, the Middle East and Africa. These include the security, broadcast, air traffic, oil and gas, rail transport and power generation industries, as well as organisations in the utilities, emergency services/civil contingency and prisons sectors.
In this special 50th anniversary year, Winsted is introducing several important new furniture ranges including a brand new EnVision Command Console, designed and constructed for today’s control room technology. Meanwhile, Winsted’s ground-breaking new E-SOC control station combines the operational features of a workstation and console to offer advantages including flexibility and ergonomic design, helping to improve the performance of control room operators monitoring complex systems.
Reflecting this expansion, Winsted has also boosted its management team by promoting its former CAD designer, Jonathan Oseland, into a new role as Assistant Manager supporting UK General Manager, Terry Shough. Other initiatives include a new 50th anniversary colour catalogue containing details on Winsted’s full range of furniture, related accessories and design services (downloadable from the website). The company is also preparing to attain Investors in People accreditation, demonstrating its further commitment to corporate social responsibility.
Control room specifiers/purchasers can see Winsted’s furniture at events during 2013 including IFSEC UK and Turkey, MIPS Moscow and Emergency Services Show.
