HRH Geology was founded in 1989 and has grown steadily from its beginnings as a provider of specialist geological services, including the world’s first geological log drawing software product and first stand-alone infra-red mud gas detector. The company has now diversified into new markets in North America, the Middle East, Africa and South East Asia working with most of the major national and international energy companies. HRH Geology provides the operational geology solution to help clients understand the geology of their oilfield reservoirs, ultimately resulting in the extraction of more hydrocarbons from the ground. This is enabled by HRH Geology’s Gravitas software suite which includes Winlog, the world leading log drawing package. The software suite now includes various modules and options and has become one of the industries favoured geological software suites, helping propel the company to business in 69 countries. HRH Geology has been developing new technologies that link in with the software, one of which is the Spectra Advanced Gas Analysis service. The company also provides geological expertise ranging from geological support from the office to the provision of wellsite and operations geologists on the oil rigs. HRH Geology is now the largest supplier of wellsite geologists in the North Sea. These developments have created an offering that is completely integrated for geology in the oil and gas industry.
The company, headquartered in Aberdeen, Scotland with regional offices in Houston, Abu Dhabi and Jakarta has delivered training and services in every continent and placed geologists in oil and gas provinces around the world. The sustained growth has allowed HRH Geology to invest in research and development in order to expand their product and service offering, to become a total solution for geology with the development of new technologies, provision of geological expertise and resource for high quality geology professionals.
David Harrison, the Managing Director and founder had this to say about the achievement, “It is a real honour to receive a Queen’s Award for our considerable achievement in international trade and is a testament to the hard work of our people in developing and successfully implementing our internationalisation strategy.” Mr Harrison attributes the success and growth to the expertise and hard work from all the employees and both the technical director Chris Harlow and the sales and marketing director Dawood Khan. HRH Geology is one of only ten Scottish companies to receive this prestigious business award for outstanding growth in overseas markets in 2013. Overseas sales have risen each year in the period assessed for the award and they now account for over 60% of the company’s total sales. Mr Khan says “the long-standing partnerships and relationships with our clients have made winning this award possible, and we would like to recognise this by thanking all of our customers.”
During the same week as the announcement of the Queens Award, HRH Geology also celebrated the landmark of reaching 100 employees, and Mr Harrison points out that “The Queen’s Award is a great recognition for our staff. This achievement is something for everyone connected to HRH Geology to be proud of”.
