Fluid Transfer International is an innovative company that designs and manufactures a range of ground, marine and aviation refuelling equipment from their base in Gloucestershire. The company was founded by two engineer friends in 1967 and has continued to thrive since. We pride ourselves in being a supplier to both the commercial and defence markets, supporting the UK Ministry of Defence with our specialist equipment. A prestigious contract was awarded in 2005 to design and build the on-board aviation refuelling and fuel transfer modular equipment for the Royal Navy’s two new aircraft carriers. The equipment is used for the refuelling of embarked aircraft, and the material deliverables of the contract were completed at the end of 2013.
Our exports extend to 76 countries with particular emphasis in Europe, Middle East and Far East. Of 2013’s sales 83% were for export, including entry into three new countries. In addressing the contract requirements for in-country content and participation with some of our overseas customers, we identify a local partner to undertake final assembly and integration alongside our trained technicians. Projects involve customer and partner personnel spending time at our UK facility for assimilation, training and knowledge transfer.
The Queen’s Award was a wonderful recognition of our export achievements and testament to all involved with the company; our employees, customers and partners alike. As a first time entrant and winner we were absolutely delighted and incredibly honoured. It will push us on to find further new overseas markets and countries in which to export to, and with The Queen’s Award emblem to the fore, it is sure to give the company enhanced creditability and exposure from which we hope to identify exciting new opportunities.
