2014 | Sustainable Development
Edinburgh Arts & Entertainment (EAE) Ltd
Edgefield Road Industrial Estate
Edinburgh Arts & Entertainment (EAE) Ltd is Scotland’s leading arts and tourism leaflet and poster marketing company. We work with over 800 clients of all sizes, storing their promotional print materials before delivering and merchandising them at 5,000 display sites throughout Scotland.
Given the nature of our business and our fleet of almost 30 delivery vans, we have potential to create significant carbon emissions. This would be at odds with the emphasis on sustainable business practices that has been a core element of our operations since our inception in 1987.
From small beginnings offering discounts to clients who use recycled paper, we have now adopted an Environmental Policy and Environmental Management System that sets a target of achieving carbon neutrality across all our operations by 2015. Since 2009, we have reduced our emissions by over 80%.
Key initiatives we have adopted include:
Operating a network of 10 regional depots across Scotland to reduce the number of van journeys to and from our main warehouse.
Replacing our van fleet with new vehicles that run on bio-diesel made from 100% reclaimed waste cooking oil.
Installing a wind turbine to generate renewable electricity for our main warehouse.
Introducing eco-driving training and satellite tracking software for all our drivers to reduce annual fuel consumption.
Creating a Biodiversity Garden for plants and wildlife at our main HQ.
Providing free waste paper and cardboard pick up and recycling to all our clients through our own recycling centre, which now generates income of over £20,000 p/a.
Glen Bennett, Managing Director of EAE Ltd, said:
“Winning this award is a tribute to all our staff and customers who have bought into and enthusiastically embraced our sustainability agenda. We recognise that Scotland’s natural environment is its prime tourism asset. We hope our example can encourage other businesses to work together to protect and conserve it for future generations of visitors to enjoy”.
